TITLE: Technical Design Authority, Intelligent Transport Systems
DEPARTMENT: Operations
REPORTING TO: Chief Engineer
SUMMARY:
The Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) team focuses on the provision of integrated traffic and transport network management and information solutions in the UK and is one of the leading suppliers of UTMC Common Database systems. These solutions form one aspect of the Company`s geospatial intelligence capability that provides high performance technology and systems for operational mission and business critical applications for Defence and Security, Government and national infrastructure.
A Technical Design Authority is required to work with prospects and customers to plan solutions, coordinate software developments and deploy complete solutions. The role will require someone familiar with operational (command and control) real time information systems design and integration preferably with experience in delivery of ITS.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
1. To work with customers to establish requirements and propose solutions based on technology.
2. To interact with the development teams and sales for estimating and design.
3. To act as a Technical Design Authority and guide product development.
4. To support deployment and post delivery services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Engage and understand customer requirements for ITS system solutions. These will involve provision of integrated real time information systems targeted at traffic management and control.
2. Maintain a detailed knowledge of relevant technology and other ITS to enable industrial strength solutions to be proposed.
3. Propose appropriate architectures, data models and software system designs.
4. Assist in the preparation of proposals and bids to customers.
5. To act as a Technical Design Authority and advise project managers and delivery teams
throughout the project lifecycle.
6. To advise on and guide the associated product development.
7. Support test and integration to ensure that requirements have been met.
8. Assist with system deployment and subsequent in service support.
9. Provide specifications and contribute to user documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
1. Education to, as a minimum, degree level in a numerate discipline (engineering, maths, physics, GIS etc.).
2. 3-5 years experience in ITS or similar technology area including potentially defence or security sector.
3. Specific knowledge of geospatial techniques and architectures.
4. Proven capability in systems design and software development.
5. Proven software development experience preferably of C++, .NET, JAVA.
