Mine Manager, Open Pit
 

Mine Manager, Open Pit (Copper/Cobalt)
Contract Fly-in-fly-out position in the mining sector in a remote and safe area of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Single status position (not favourable for wives and families to reside there). Reports to the General Manager Mining.

PLEASE NOTE: Regrettably, we are unable to consider candidates who do not have prior mining industry experience (This is a crucial requirement and not negotiable).

KEY TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Diploma/Degree in Mining Engineering, Mine Managers Certificate of Competency, post graduate qualification in Business Management is an advantage.
• A minimum of 10 year experience and at least 3 years' working exposure as an appointed Open Pit Mine Manager for a large-scale mine is essential.
• Ensure effective asset management processes are implemented and adhered to.
• Able to ensure production targets and profit margins are achieved cost effectively and safely on a sustainable basis for the business unit.
• Able to effectively interact with various stakeholders (Safety, Planning, Maintenance, Processing, Contractors, etc.).
• Able to implement and maintain sound people management and development practices to ensure a productive workforce.
• Able to develop and execute the strategic vision/plan for the business unit and directly assist the GMM in the tactical management process via transformational/effective leadership.
• Act as the custodian for innovation, technology and best practices at open pit mining level.
• Ensure environmental and social concerns in open pit operations are managed as a strategic focus area.
• Strategic thinking and planning skills are essential
• Computer literacy (MS Office) is essential.

OTHER ESSENTIAL ITEMS REQUIRED FOR SEARCH:
• The position requires a highly motivated person with excellent communication skills and strong leadership to be part of driving profitable and effective business outcomes.
• Languages: Fluent in English and/or French
• Medically fit in order to obtain a medical certificate.
• Able to work in a multicultural environment.

REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS:
• Salary up to 200US$K per annum (tax free plus benefits) depending on skills and experience.
• Benefits: Bonus potential of 20%; Travel allowance; Accommodation and meals provided; 84 days annual leave (on a roster base); Medical; Group Benefits Scheme, etc.
