Technical Buyer (Mining experience).
Contract (renewable) fly-in-fly-out position in the mining sector in a remote and safe area of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Single status position (not favourable for wives and families to reside there) with a six day working week.
PLEASE NOTE: Regrettably, we are unable to consider candidates who do not have prior mining/engineering industry experience, this is a crucial requirement and NOT negotiable.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• At least 7 years experience in commodity buying within the mining industry
• Diploma in Purchasing Management/Advance Certificate in Purchasing Management/Financial/Commercial Degree
• Fully Computer literate for role including ERP Systems knowledge (Sage).
• Valid driving license
• Willing to reside in the DRC on Single Status.
KEY TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Enter order recommendations into the company Sage system,
• Follow and track orders through approval stages
• Ensure orders are collated, signed and forwarded to suppliers
• Procurement of supplies for on mine capital projects and the promotion of contract suppliers
• Negotiating of quotations, engineering orders, services and equipment
• Technical competence and understanding of mining commodities
KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
• To effectively contribute to buying office and execute all contract and non-contract purchasing, procurement and repairs
• Provide effective and efficient administration and reporting
• Manage and contain cost of material procured/purchased
• Ability to develop a sound base of Suppliers
• Identify and prioritise urgent requirements
• Adjudication of orders
• Value adding considerations in the adjudication of tenders
• Query of non-company standards
• Make or buy decisions on repair and manufactured items
• Ensure delivery of professional service and adherence to ethical norms at all times
• Adherence to and understanding of purchasing policies and procedures
REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS:
• Annual salary up to US$100,000 (tax free plus benefits), depending on skills and experience.
