Job Overview: An established leading Information Management Service Company in the Oil and Gas Industry are seeking a Business Development Manager to drive their growing IM consultancy business. Strong background in selling IM consultancy services from within the Energy Sector desired.

Over the past 17 years, the Company has achieved an excellent reputation for the delivery of Data and Information Management (IM) solutions within the Oil and Gas Industry. Their consultancy services range from high-level information management strategies to resolving the practical day-to-day operational complexities that these bring.

They are “Partners of Choice” with a range of clients varying from major Oil and Gas Companies (BP, Chevron, Maersk, Petro-Canada, etc.) to leading related service companies who also call on their expertise for the provision of complete outsourced IM solutions or the delivery of specialist IM consulting projects (e.g. EDMS Implementations/Support, Records & Storage Management, Intranet Development, Data Quality Improvement, Application Integration & Implementation etc.).

With an established client base and a pipeline of new potential clients, you will focus on managing and developing business opportunities within the energy sector. You will identify business needs and formulate consultative sales strategies. You will be accountable for developing close relationships with clients at the highest level, from Finance, IT, Exploration & Engineering Managers to technical Service Delivery Managers

Working along side other business personnel, you will focus primarily on Southern UK region plus international regions as appropriate.

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Managing Director, you will take responsibility for the following within your markets:
· Develop competencies/understanding of the Company’s full consultancy offerings within the energy sector
· Develop a business strategy that will drive new consultancy business within your current client accounts and potential new accounts.
· Apply consultative selling techniques - work with the senior level management at oil and gas and utility related companies to identify business and technical challenges and concerns, relating to their information/data management and geoscience service solutions.
· Apply this knowledge to actively seek new business opportunities and create innovative business models for growth within this sector.
· Manage all sales activities within your client accounts.
· Provide accurate and timely sales forecasts.
· Seek out, analyze and communicate market intelligence.
· Working with senior management, participate in the strategic planning process to provide short, intermediate and long-term business objectives and goals.
· Keep abreast of current industry practices and trends in this sector.
· Constantly examine new practices or potential business opportunities outside this sector that would add value & drive these viable opportunities forward.
· Build relationships with other suppliers in this sector where clear business advantage or synergy exists.

This BDM role offers the opportunity to be part of a leading independent growth company with an established portfolio of IM consultancy service offerings. It offers immense scope and autonomy for an entrepreneurial individual to develop business propositions across the full energy sector value chain.

Preferences: The successful candidate will have:
· A degree either in an Earth Science or Business related subject essential. Master’s degree preferred.
· Minimum of 10 years experience in Information management essential, preferably with a strong breath of IM solutions knowledge.
· Minimum of 5 years in sales or business development, selling IM related services essential.
· Oil and Gas industry experience highly advantageous but not essential.
· Strong understanding of the issues and an appreciation of the business and technical challenges surrounding data/information management essential.
· The ability to articulate value propositions to high level executives, at Senior & Board level, in the energy sector is essential.
· Ability to identify problems and formulate conceptual/technical solutions essential.
· Team player - proven ability to work with all levels within the company to successfully meet company objectives.
· The ability to understand and analyze financial numbers as well as develop and evaluate capital appropriations and financial plans.
· Must be able to travel.
· Highly service orientated.
· Ability to leverage contact & network base

Package: A Base of £50K - £60K (GBP) plus an attractive commission plan delivering an OTE circa £100-120K, plus Company benefits is on offer depending on skills and experience. Flexibility exists to earn a higher OTE for high calibre candidate.
