SUPPORTING INFORMATION Qualifications: Having recently successfully completed a degree in Applied Psychology and Criminology I feel that working within the Youth sector would give me many valuable opportunities to be able to apply some of the theoretical perspectives covered during my three years of study. Throughout the course I focussed much of my work around children and developed my theoretical knowledge concerning children and young adults with challenging behavioural and emotional needs. This was not only in terms of causation but also through learning and developing coping strategies. With such a strong theoretical background I have been made increasingly aware of the value of educational inspiration and social support for such children. I feel working for the Youth Offending Team or similar agencies would give me the opportunity to participate in working towards the clearly invaluable goal of enriching the lives of these young peoples as well as develop, through practice, the skills to do this as successfully as possible. Experience, Skills and Knowledge: Clearly a purely academic experience would not make me suitable for such a practically based role but I feel that the practical experienced gained through work placements and interns during the completion of this degree(for a school of English (ELAC)and for the Leaving Care Team in Hasting) has allowed me to experience these theories in practice and working within the Youth sector would give me an opportunity to build on these.
