I have recently graduated from Reading University with a 1st class degree in Fine Art. I am now looking to dedicate myself to the Art Industry and specifically find a role that will utilize my talents and enable me to work within a creative environment. I have just finished working on a short film for the National Film and Television School in London. My role was as part of the costume department. The film had a particularly small budget and fast turn over and so I had to be focused, adaptable and resourceful. The job gave me excellent experience within a very high pressure environment and allowed me to develop my communication skills as well as delivering the best results to a specific brief. I have valuable experience working in an art shop and gallery. This involved building a professional relationship with the local artists from Eastbourne and gave me the opportunity to be part of the town’s creative community. It also gave me experience in hanging work and setting up a gallery space. As well as working for my degree, I also worked 16 hours a week as a bridal consultant in a designer wedding dress shop. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience there and was well trained in customer relations. This is an invaluable skill given the high pressure in the wedding industry and their necessity for excellent service. I was responsible for a range of administrative roles within the company which included diary management, stock taking, postal duties, letter writing and order confirmations as well as my appointments with customers. Working part time through my degree required exceptional organisation and time management skills During my study I was also able to volunteer on a Community Art project run by a Reading artist for young refugees. It was a great experience working with an enthusiastic group of people with diverse backgrounds and provided brilliant practice in encouraging a creative outlet.
